Colorado Prep Report – 8/2011Horizon
2011 is the year that Horizon has been hoping for. After going 4-6 a season ago and making it to the playoffs, this team has the talent and the hunger to make some noise. With a conference that is loaded with question marks, now may be the year for the Hawks. Running back Andrew Patrick will be asked to lead the charge and is a shoe in for all state honors if he stays healthy and continues to produce. As a junior, he dominated with the football in his hands while racking up nearly 1,500 yards. Patrick is a game changer and may be the best player in the Front Range for this fall. Joe Gonzales, Brent Albrandt, Matt Gillenwater, and Dustin Rivas all are returning after receiving postseason honors as well. Horizon must prove that they have the ability to close out opponents while making plays down the stretch that help them to victories. If they do that, this conference better watch out. ~Christian James

CET Sports/ISPN – 8/2011
http://www.ispn.tv/2011_football_preview_noscrollbar.htmHorizon Hawks Outlook: The Hawks enter 2011 as the most seasoned team in the Front Range League. With 15 starters returning, this could be the year for Horizon to capture a league crown. Virtually all the skill players return: QB Brent Albrandt (team leader), RB Andrew Patrick (3rd leading rusher in 5A last year),WR Jesse Torres (one of the top athletes in the state), WR Dustin Rivas (leading receiver last year for the Hawks) and TE Joe Gonzales (3-year starter). Defensively, LB’s Omar Gutierrez and Matthew Gillenwater will be the leaders.Bottom Line: If some young players can step up on the offensive and defensive lines, the Hawks will challenge for the Front Range League title.
